Mercury retrograde – time to re-assess

 In Uncategorised

Just as your ideas kite may have whooshed aloft, due to Mercury flying high in eccentric Aquarius, the trickster planet loops around and retrogrades back into the cardinal earth sign of Capricorn. It’s time to reassess!

Mercury retrogrades or loops around at 1 degree of Aquarius on 6/1/2016, in Australia.

Mercury or Hermes is the winged messenger of the Gods and is known as the trickster because of his pranks in childhood. In mythology, Hermes the child stole Apollo’s cows just because he could.

Ingeniously, he fashioned his sandals so his footprints appeared back to front and drove the cattle backwards to make it look like he was actually travelling forwards. Zeus/Jupiter forgave him but made him apologise to Apollo and work out a peace offering – a lyre that Hermes had made.

He’s the energy associated with fast thinking, moving and communicating. He promotes commerce, negotiates deals and presides over journeys and the unexpected.

In Aquarius, Mercury is in exaltation. Here it can be original, inventive, intuitive and share ideas across the collective. So, hold that thought … Mercury will return.

Until the 26th January, Mercury will revisit the cardinal, earth sign of Capricorn, ruled by Saturn. Here, Mercury is shrewd, organised, and executive-like. Ideas are best when they can be properly implemented and certain of attaining success, security and value.

Mercury retrograde in Capricorn asks us to review everything and Saturn will scrutinise our progress. Ideas and plans that are realistic and based on good foundations will thrive.

We all have Aquarius and Capricorn in our natal astrology chart and Mercury’s effects will depend on which house of your chart it is transiting at the moment.

Mercury will rewind to 14 degrees 54’, resume its forward motion in Capricorn on Saturday 26 Jan at 6.07 am AEDT and re-enter Aquarius on 14 February. It will move forward unfettered by its shadow on February 15th.

Wishing you a remarkable time!
